FAQ
Everything you want to know
If your question isn’t here, email cases@sue123.com.
What is Sue123 and how does it work?
We are a legal document preparation service. We help you build your case, draft a professional demand letter, mail it by U.S. Certified Mail, and prepare your small claims court file. We are not lawyers and we don’t give legal advice — but we automate the paperwork that makes people give up.
How much does it cost to sue someone in small claims court?
With us, $25 per case (documents, demand letter and USPS Certified Mail) or $50 if you want follow-up and a final notice. The court filing fee is separate, varies by state, and is not charged by us.
What types of cases can I file?
Security deposits, unpaid invoices, refused refunds, chargebacks, contractor no-shows, subscription traps, property damage and personal debts. Small claims limits vary by state: $5,000 to $12,500.
Do I need a lawyer?
No. Small claims court is designed for self-representation. Our documents are professionally formatted, cite the applicable legal basis, and follow your jurisdiction’s expected format.
How long does the process take?
Building your case takes about 5 minutes. Your letter is drafted within 24 hours and mailed certified. The defendant has 14 days to respond. If they don’t pay, your court file is ready immediately. Hearings are usually scheduled 2 to 4 weeks after filing.
What’s the success rate?
We do not publish a rate, because we do not have a verified number, and we do not guarantee an outcome. A case with a contract, receipts, photos and a clear payment trail is easier to explain. The letter is a step before court, not a promise you will be paid.
What happens after the letter is sent?
You’ll see the tracking number and proof of delivery in your dashboard. If the defendant pays, you mark the case resolved. If there’s no response in 14 days, we alert you and move to the next stage.
Can you help me collect if I win?
We give you the collection guide and the documents to request enforcement of the judgment in your state. Collecting a judgment is a separate process, but we hand you the map.
Does it work in my state?
Yes, in all 50 states. We prepare documents for your jurisdiction and certified mail works nationwide.
What proof do I need?
A contract or agreement, receipts and payment records, screenshots of messages or emails, photos of the damage or product, and any written promise to pay. Screenshots work great.
Is it secure?
Your session is encrypted (HTTPS) and only you can open your case. We do not sell your data. Your address is not printed on the letter sent to the defendant. Files sit in a private store, not on a public page.
Is Sue123 a law firm?
No. We are a self-help document preparation service, as permitted by law. We don’t provide legal advice or represent clients in court. If your case is complex, we recommend consulting a lawyer.
Ready to get paid?
Five minutes today. A letter you can review. Getting paid depends on your case, not on a promise from us.
